Our meditation groups

Experience the JOY of Mindful Living at DALLAS MEDITATION CENTER’s weekly AWAKENING HEART Community of Mindful Living gatherings:

Practice groups are gatherings where individuals come together to practice mindfulness meditation in a supportive community. These sessions typically encompass various activities such as sitting meditation, walking meditation, dharma talks delivered by teachers, singing and chanting, contemplative exercises, and group discussions. We also sometimes incorporate elements of yoga, qi gong practice.

Our meditation gatherings are modeled after the practices of Plum Village and Zen master Thich Nhat Hanh, open to all levels of meditators, beginner through experienced, and welcoming of any background or tradition.

To honor our commitment to diversity, some groups are exclusively reserved for practitioners from particular under-represented communities, such as People of Color, LGBTQIA+ communities, people living with disabilities or illnesses, and young adults.

Participation in these practice groups is by donation, with the aim of making them accessible to as many individuals as possible who can benefit from them. Instead of payment, attendees have the opportunity to offer a voluntary contribution according to their ability to support the teacher and the center. This is referred to as the practice of “dana,” or joyful generosity.
